Day 3 Friday 28th October

Today we went to Normanby Hall to do some more filming for our  music video. We filmed the middle section to our song here as we felt we could use the environment to our advantage as it worked  very well with the lyrics. We arrived early in the morning after we had been to the farm to shoot our filming that we could not do yesterday. We finished our filming fairly quickly as Sophie was such a good actor we did not have to redo shots. However we did film some shots multiple of times as we wanted to capture different angles and the camera quality was not as good. One shot that we filmed was the shot of Sophie ripping up the photo of charlie as we wanted to see which angle we wanted to use for our video so we bought multiple copies. Once we arrived at Normanby Hall we went into the gift shop to inform them that we had arrived like we were instructed. As soon as we went inside we saw places that we could potentially use to do filming. We captured some pictures of Sophie and Charlie on a bench which we could potentially use for our digipak. There were a variety of different locations that could work for our video but we wanted to have a walk around to find the perfect one. We  decided to have Sophie walking down the path and singing into camera as we found this very conventional and it showed off our models good looks. We followed our storyboards fairly well to film all of our shots and I feel that as a group we all worked very well together and tried very hard.

Group post: Day 2 Thursday 27th October

Today the locations we planned on using were the scene at Sophie's house in the bath, which was the memory scene in 'the snug' ,which is a lounging room in Sophie's house, and finally the abandoned farm. However, upon arrival to the farm it came to our attention that some people were at the farm that could potentially effect our filming so we decided to change our filming at the farm to Friday morning. Instead of going to the farm we decided to go down a public footpath which was near the farm anyway just so we wasn't wasting time to take some photo's of Sophie that could be used for the digipak. This was successful and we got a couple of images of Sophie with some landscaped backgrounds. The memory we filmed in the snug turned out really well, as the narrative our video is based around is domestic abuse, so we have a memory of a time that our male actor gets angry due to Sophia not being ready then gets aggressive. This scene took along time to film as we wanted to make it tasteful but yet get across a strong narrative of a very current problem in the world. The scene in the bath we have decided to re-film due to having another idea after we had finished filming. We are going to try our new idea and then decided in editing which we prefer. Overall I believe that today didn't go aswell as the previous, however we still have got alot of scenes done.

Group post: Day 1 - Wednesday 26th October

Today was our first day of shooting our music video 'Gravity'.  The locations we used today were Amy Jacklin's house and Amy Johnson's where we used Amy Jacklin's front door to show her walking out of the house and leaving and Amy Johnsons bedroom to film them cuddling and her bathroom to show her singing into the mirror. During the day we got everything we wanted to get done filmed. At our first location we had no problems as everything went really well. However during the second scene we were planning to film we struggled to get the lighting right, as the scene we were trying to film in the bedroom is mean't to be at night. But due to having the curtains and the blinds shut this made seeing the faces of Sophie and Charlie extremely hard. We tried numerous ways to solve this problem, including using fairy lights above the actors heads and having Amy, our helper for the day, standing with a lamp pointing at the ceiling so it didn't make the scene look too bright so it is a realistic light for a night time scene. Finally all of the shots we took in the bathroom went really well as the lighting was really effective. Overall I believe that our first day went really well and  I believe that we are well on target for the rest of our filming.

Adele- Hello shot types research

I conducted further research into shot types as I needed to understand what appeals to an audience. The idea of this video was to bring back Adele's image as she has been gone for a while. They used lots of CU and ECU shots to capture her face and the strong use of make-up used to show off her new image and that she is back. This could be similar to Geri Halliwell's 'Raining Men' music video, as there were lots of close up shots of her face in her video, to show off her new image now she is back. I feel the reason Adele has done this is because not only has she not been singing for a while but she has also become a mother, so she wanted to show people that she has lost her baby weight and that she is still youthful.

Conclusions of research

Supporting actor Charlie

This is our supporting actor Charlie Bradley. His star name will be Jason as we felt that this is appropriate for his characters role as he needs to be portrayed as a bad guy so we feel that this was quite a hostile name. Sophie and Charlie are in a relationship in real life so there will be lots of chemistry between the two when they perform.

I have done this because I want to gain feedback from other people on the pictures as I want to find out what my TA  thinks about the images that I have taken.
